Saturday North Carolina Waterfall Drive

This is a moderate paced, scenic drive incorporating twisty mountain highways and visits to four waterfalls. We’ll first visit the beautiful Whitewater Falls near Cashiers, NC ($2 parking fee), one of the highest waterfalls east of the Mississippi at 334 feet. This stop involves an easy 1/2-mile round trip hike on a relatively flat, paved walkway, and an optional climb down a long set of stairs for a better view of the falls. From there we’ll venture into Cashiers, NC for lunch. After leaving Cashiers we’ll drive under Bridal Veil Falls for a photo opportunity, then make a stop at Dry Falls. There is a short hike down to the falls and we can walk under and behind the 75-foot high waterfall. The next stop is a roadside view of Bust Your Butt Falls, which is a popular swimming hole and water slide during the summer months. From there we will return to Brasstown Valley along the twisty, scenic Highway 64.

The total duration is about 7 hours, including lunch, and includes about 3-1/2 hours of driving time taking us through three states and covering about 155 miles.
