Saturday Over the Hills and Through the Forest

This drive will take us into North Carolina with a brief stop to enjoy the view of the Nantahala National Forest.  The word “Nantahala” is a Cherokee word for "Land of the Noonday Sun."  Our next stop will be in the small mountain town of the Highlands for lunch at The Ugly Dog Public House.

After lunch, we will be traveling back into Georgia along Warwoman Road.  We will be taking a side trip to Rabun, Georgia for a fun visit to 12 Spies Vineyards.  After leaving the winery our journey continues along Lake Burton before returning to Hiawassee.

This drive is 135 miles, and 3.25 hours.  The time is approximate and will depend how much time we spend at the winery….rumor has it that it is a hard place to leave.
