Friday Kiss of the Dragon

This drive will take us from Brasstown Valley Resort east on US-64 towards Franklin, NC before heading northeast on Wayah Road towards Robbinsville, NC. After lunch in Robbinsville we will jump onto US 129 north which will take us all the way to Deals Gap. From there we enter the famous “Tail of the Dragon”. On this 11-mile stretch of road we will go through 317 turns so be prepared for some work with the steering wheel. Shortly after we will cruise along the Calderwood Lake where we will make a U-turn to go back over the Dragon (another chance for some fun twisties in case we hit slow traffic on the first run).
Once we get back to Deals Gap we will stop for a quick restroom break and to recover from those 600+ turns. We will then take 28 (The Hellbender) towards Fontana Dam. We will stop on top of the Dam to take a group picture before heading back on 28 towards Robbinsville. From there we will follow 129 south to Andrews, NC where we will make one last restroom break. Our final stretch will take us south on 141 towards Brasstown then on 64 west towards Brasstown Valley Resort.
This drive is approximately 208 miles and about 6.5 hours including stops. It is a spirited drive and recommended for experienced drivers with previous Audi Club experience on spirited drives. The majority of the 200 miles will be spent on curvy roads so be prepared for a long day of fun driving.
